Design Detail - Lincoln Farmhouse - 'Glazed Linkways' - This design idea started as a way to spatially separate the brick gable forms. By the end of the design process it was so much more. These glazed zones provided transitional spaces within the home and create moments of delight - a spot to play piano or for a quiet coffee in the sun. We took the glass all the way up to the box gutter and dropped the ceiling inside for the ultimate seemless look. Lincoln Farmhouse - 2023 - This delightful collaboration with close friends has resulted in a rural family home with a soul ❤️ We drew from on the local vernacular of Canterbury with red brick from @canterburyclaybricks, Ebony corrugated @colorsteelnz and heritage windows. Glazed 'linkways' connect three simple, gable forms to separate living and bedroom wings within. Emmaus Dental - these renders are for a new dental clinic interior fit out in Richmond, our latest design that has just started construction. The practice are undergoing a re-brand with @mixmedia_nz and we are working together to create a calming interior that reflects their brand. It was all about the angles for us on this beach house project. A tight site with panoramic views meant that to maximise sunlight and spatial requirements we needed to design some interestingly shaped spaces and changes in level. New project alert! This compact, contemporary take on the 'elegant shed' was an exciting opportunity for us. When a North facing section came up for sale, one of our staff here at Redbox jumped at the chance to purchase and design a new small home of 90m2 on a tight budget. Six months later, the home is completed (on budget) and has some high spec features not often seen at this price point: automated interior lighting, tiled wet areas, and in recognition of the designer's flair for the 70s, herringbone timber flooring throughout. The home also recognises the requirements for a sustainable home in the 21st century: PV solar panels will be installed, electric car charging, heat pump hot water system and heat recovery/mechanical fresh air systems all ensure that this house will meet future living requirements and reduced energy consumption. Given the success of this build, we are keen to follow it's lead and look to continue with this ethos for future high quality, low cost builds. Watch this space...
